What does this mean to the 2012 Baltimore Grand Prix?

All together, Baltimore Racing Development owes the city more than $1.5 million, the Maryland Stadium Authority around $520,000 and is facing a handful of lawsuits from unpaid vendors and lenders alleging the company owes them more than $1.5 million, too.

BALTIMORE -- Officials threatened Monday to terminate the city's five-year contract with organizers of the Baltimore Grand Prix if the group doesn't restructure and pay its debts to the city and vendors.

Bottom line, if you attended the 2011 event, you may have attended a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Vic

I'm holding out hope that it will continue. It wouldn't surprise me if they opened ticket sales for 2012 within the next few weeks to help generate cash to pay down the debt. Not sure where they are in getting a title sponsor, but if that happens, then cash problem solved.

After such a successful event, I would think that someone could come in and save the day. Whether its a title sponsor, another organizer, or whatever, the city needs to figure out a backup plan.

I've heard that capitalists have come in and are working on re-structuring BRD. Their CEO resigned, but is still helping out with the transition. 2012 BGP will be back for it's second year!

AHHHHH! The City Council in their infinite wisdom has approved the contract with Downforce Racing for BGP 2012...

1) When are we going to get the old committeemen back together to prepare?
2) Have we compiled a list of lessons learned and goals to be achieved?
3) Have you marked your calendar for this event Labor day weekend 2012?

4) Have the "safety car" avoid crashing head on into the race leader by more than 3', preferably 300' or 3000',lol
