I'm trying to clarify what service I should be doing on my 2000 323iT. After reading Roundel and other boards, like e46fanatics.com, I am unsure as to whether I should be replacing the water pump and associated parts at 60k mile mark?

Have you replaced the coolant already? If you have, I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, go ahead and replace the water pump and thermostat when you change the coolant. From what I've heard, E46 water pumps are not prone to the impeller failure that affect E36 water pumps. However, like all things mechanical, they will fail eventually.
sorry for digging up this one. I AM REALLY HAVING A HARD TIME looking for guides on how to remove my e46 water pump luckily the search button pointed me to this thread which gives me an idea to search also on e46fanatics.com. I don't wanna visit my dealer yet i wanna fix this all by myself.
