    E39 post-maintenance clutch strangeness

    Riddle me this: Bring my E39 530 in to dealer (name w/held for now) to get brake fluid and clutch flushed 'n filled.

    I get the car back, and the brakes feel exactly as they did when I brought it in (as expected), but my clutch goes almost all the way to the floor before getting any tension and disengaging the clutch (very unexpected). I thought I was in someone else's car, it felt so different!

    I'm told to drive it for a day or two and see if anything changes. What could change? What might I break? It's engaging fine, and I can get in and out of gear alright, but what could make this happen? Air drawn in while bleeding? Something wrong w/CDV (dumbest invention ever) after flushing?

    I've driven plenty of bimmers besides mine, and I've never felt a clutch that's fully engaged just inches from the floorboard (other than my '66 GTO with horrific mechanical adjustment rods). If this was the way it was supposed to be, why would Bav Auto sell those things you put behind the pedal to shorten the travel (which this car doesn't have)?
