2013 325 I retrofit back up warning system

My buddy pulled the trigger on a brand new 2013 325i from Sterling BMW.
He went to pick it up last Friday and they could not find the car that he negoitated on previously.
Anyhow he took one home without the backup warning system that he really wanted
based on the salesman promise to have the dealer install it.
Is that a concern or even possible to have the dealer do this install.

Did he get that in writing? I didn't think you can retrofit PDC and I seriously doubt a dealership will want any part of that.

Thanks for the quick response.
Dealer says that the camera can not be installed but all the sensors are not a problem.
So there is a car outline only due to the lack of a camera
He is taking to the dealer to get the work performed today.
Should be interesting
Hope they don't drill his bumper cover

IF the dealer will retrofit, I would rather have them replace the bumper that already has the PDC sensor holes built in as opposed to drilling holes into current bumper

Absolutely
Sterling BMW put off the install until Monday.
just the rear bumper cover has the sensors right?

The bumper itself has the cutouts and the sensors are separate

Sterling did just drill and insert the sensors into the existing front and rear bumper covers.
Did not look to shabby from what I could tell: however the system does not display anything just beeps loudly when you first start it up and then
when you get close to something. Not what the salesman had promised. My buddy is not too happy about it and now he is told that the saleman no longer works there.

Does he have iDrive? If so, it gives visual info.

Maybe a setting in iDrive?

With iDrive, when car is put into reverse, there's a visual on the screen that tells you how close you are to something and which sensor is closest. If all the dealership did was install the sensors, they should be able to re flash the software to include pdc
