    Exclamation 03 M3 Speed Sensor

Has anyone heard of a problem with the speed sensors with E46 M3's?

My car has been in the shop 3 times in the past year. The car makes sudden breaks when cornering but steps back in line if I lift off the throttle.

I took the car into BMW of Arlington and they told me there was a known problem with the rear differential on the M3. In addition, I put new tires on the car in January and noticed that the tires had worn uneven on the inside. I have been told that the speed sensor had nothing to do with the tire wear but I never had this problem before.

Any help would be appreciated. The delaer told me not to have an alignmet done??

Speed sensor? I think you mean the LSD. There have been stories on the various message boards of diff's going up.

Not sure the point in not checking the alignment if the tires are wearing unevenly as that is most certainly the cause....unless the diff is so ruined that you are dragging the inside tire, but I'd still check the alignment to be sure.

When you mention uneven wear -- do you mean that the wear pattern isn't symmetrical between the right and left rear tires, or across the face of the tires, inside to outside?
