    Search for radar laser detector

I have just taken delivery of a 2014 650 with a variety of electronic upgrades. This Includes lane change, collision avoidance etc. I have removed my beltronics radar detector from my 550 and getting ready to install in the new vehicle. I have been advised that the new cars warning systems will give false positives. Has anyone encountered this problem. Is there a solution or a remote radar, lidar detector that is compatible for use in this car. Thanks for any help

Is there a way to turn those things on/off to see if they actually setoff your radar? I know Infinitis and Audis usually set off my V1, but it would suck if my own car is setting off my radar.

I found this thread online, although it doesn't really give much of a solution:

If you do find another solution, post it here.

I have had no problem with my Escort Qi45. I just took it out of my 2011 E92 before trading it in. It is for sale if anyone is interested.

A laser detector is primarily going to tell you that the police just measured your speed. The beam width at normal distances is narrow (18" at 500'). So the idea of a stray "reflection" of a car ahead is more speculation than reality. The front plate is the primary aiming target. Acquisition time is ~ 0.3 second. So reaction time is pointless. Once the detector goes off - the office has clicked his pen to start writing.

And most likely he already filled in the Make on the ticket before turning on his laser.

I thought the newer models provide a shifting technology. That when hit shifts to the response and requires a rearming of the device to he a speed reading. This shifting is supposed to give the driver the time to react and slow down. I am wondering about the effect of the 650 integral radar for lane change crash avoidance will have on the use of such device
