Der Schuh Syndikat is the brainchild of founder Eric Peck, “Z3elda” on the forums. Each year, the announcement of Dorkfest produces a number of forum posts lamenting the lack of an East Coast coupe event. The Charlotte metro area seemed like the perfect geographic location, so Eric decided to jump in the gap and create an event to satisfy the demand.

These cars were meant to be driven so, the event has “moving parts”. Cruise – Show – Dyno – Demos – Dinner Party – Mountain Drive.
We created a weekend that WE would want to attend ourselves.

The name: “Der Schuh Syndikat” was chosen to pay homage to a major European BMW event. “BMW Syndikat-Asphaltfieber” takes place every year on an airfield near Obermehler, Germany. Coincidentally, Der Schuh Syndikat 2012 is taking place on the same weekend as the German event this summer.
While not specifically intended to be a charity event, we are also not looking to make money (it’s a labor of love). Eric has pledged that all fees collected will be used to run the event, and any remaining funds left over will be donated to charity.

We are pleased to announce that this year we will be assisting Jeffrey’s Toy Closet. Jeffrey Stanton is a young teen living with Autism. He has an amazing story that includes a love for racing as well as for helping less fortunate kids. Jeffrey is a “young gun” Legends car driver running races here in the Carolinas. He started Jeffrey’s Toy Closet all on his own when he was 8 years old – saving his lunch money to buy toys for less fortunate classmates. Today, he collects toys in the pits during races and distributes them locally, as well as shipping toys around the country when he hears of a need. Jeffrey was featured on ESPN during countdown to green at the spring 2011 Dover NASCAR race. You will get to meet Jeffrey and his parents and check out his Legends car during our event. We will also run some raffles and collect donations for them during the event.
