8/27 NCCAutocross Event Cancelled

Due to Hurricane Irene's revised path and potential effects on the area this Saturday’s NCC autocross event has been cancelled. We are working diligently to get a new date setup and/or get credits for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at nccautocross.com and we will answer your questions ASAP.

NCC Autocross would like to announce our fifth points event of the year on August 27th, 2011. It will be held at:

Regency Furniture Stadium
11765 St. Linus Drive
Waldorf, MD 20602

You can register online, ahead of time, and get a discount. Online registration is highly encouraged! Or, if it’s a last minute decision, you can still walk-up. But please, if you're going to come, register online. Plus it'll save you $5! Registration closes 11:59 PM on Thursday, August 25th, 2011

The NCC Autocross program uses a BMW-centric customized classing structure which pits your BMW or MINI against similar performance models in 3 levels of trim: Showroom, Tuner, and Modified. There is also a simple classing structure for non-BMW competitors. You can check out the full details at nccautocross.com.

Our program is beginner friendly, offering in-car instruction, guided course walks, and a dedicated group of organizers who are happy to answer any questions you might have or show you the ropes. Also, there are free loaner helmets available for use, so if you don't have your own helmet there is no need to go out and buy or rent one just to get a few fun runs in!

We still have lots of openings. Waldorf is a great lot and Sam usually designs fast courses so come on out!!!

But this is a very unusual year for the local SCCA region and they have no more for the rest of the year. Usually they have one a month through October. This year with none in September or October, they hosted two in July and two in August, plus the National Street Tire Challenge.

A lot of the SCCA folks will be in travel mode on their way to Nationals. The Pro finale is also this weekend. It looks like a few of the guys that run late in the week are testing up at Hershey before packing up and leaving for Nebraska. I'll also be in Hershey. It is a great venue with good grip and smooth as silk. I'm hoping to make it to one or two more BMW events this year, though.

I got to drive my uncle's '72 last weekend. Built engine, Weber, well-sorted suspension, LSD, totally redone body and interior with Porsche 911 seats. Was tons of fun. Makes my '70 Triumph feel like a piece of junk, and slow. Good thing the Triumph is sexier

After I drove it carefully, he took it through Nokesville country roads at about 110 mph, lol....in the rain.

But seriously, is this even on "no matter what" or are 60-70mph winds going to cancel things? I vote the former, but of course if cones are blowing around, that might make it tough to read the course, lol.

I have a season pass, and there doesn't seem to be an option for that on Motorsport Reg. Now what?

Looks like there is a kart registered in X2.......I'm thinking perhaps karts should have their own class (call it X5 or XC or something, perhaps?).
Also, there is a Volvo registered for Modified 2.....
