    In actuality it's personal preference
I would think there's more grip in the PM session as people have laid down some rubber in the AM session and have cleared debris off the track.

    BTW, 1337=leet=elite

Nothing's wrong with PM. In fact, the tires should grip better due to the warmer temps by then. I'm going to do AM, and maybe PM too. Got some testing to do before the season gets too far underway.

Anyway, no one said that we were mentally sane.

Noel, are you doing the SCCA test day next Sunday?

Yeah, I will definitely be at SCCA for the practice event. Are you attending?

lol I could... Doesn't really matter what class I'm in this year. I had a slight advantage at Bowie, but we're not running there. Probably only going to make 3, maybe 4, events at Waldorf so I very highly doubt I could make any decent standing in any class lol.

AJ, I'm glad you mentioned this, and I wonder if someone can answer my question:

Is there any way to invalidate the scoring results for transient drivers so as not to influence or taint the season long points standing for others?

Not that I might even do very well, but I'm in T2, and will probably only make a few events. Some SCCA clubs like NNJR offer a non-points PAX, or something like that so that existing people's points are not jacked up due to transients. I would love to make the whole season, but I know it will not happen.

If this were considered, what I'd suggest is that at the end of the season, points be assigned to only those who attended 5 or more events while removing the times for those who attended less than 5 events. The problem exists as during the season, there would be no definitive way to tabulate standings.

Oh yeah. Good point. I don't think it will be an issue at all for us at BMW.

I just remember a few guys coming through STR last year and wrecking things with their brilliant driving. They showed us all that we were lucky the transients were not competing for the whole season, but they also altered the points situation between the regulars. I don't think BMW uses the same premium points system as SCCA where the top three or so places get extra points. Probably not a factor for me anyway, but guys like AJ, if in a BMW class, might screw things up for others.

I understand your point, but I think all is well how it is. I've run non-comp at WDCR before because I didn't feel like running for points one event (mainly so I could run morning and go home).

I find it fun to have a hotshoe come in to see where you're at...

Oh, and I'll see you guys at SCCA stuff this year too in ST.

Yeah. Local hot shoes are good. I think Brian is busy anyway this season, and J. Vitamvas I beat because the course strongly favored my car over his Miata that day, so he didn't mess me (or Joe) up. Ha Ha But then there was Eric Simmons, and a whole bunch of others too that passed through and brought us back to reality

Good point. I don't think I'll screw up points for anyone in X4 though. Well, assuming that atleast James and Mike run most events with BMW. Like I said, I had an advantage at Bowie, I get killed in Waldorf since the lot is more open and they can use their power advantage on me lol.

Can't some computer nerd figure out a way on Excel to drop whoever hasn't attended 5 events? Doesn't seem like it'd be that hard, but then again I know nothing on how to go about doing it lol.

Yeeaah I don't think this screwed up points for last season but I took a run in Eric's '11 BMW Z4 in S1 and took first by a bit. As much fun as it'd be to jump in other peoples cars randomly, I don't want to interfere with the true competitors. Although, if anyone wants me to co-drive their car, I think I'd take the offer this season since I'm not going to be competitive in mine

Yay! More ST friends . Looks like there may be some other new guys in ST this season. Can't wait!

Yeah, it's not hard. However you have to wait until the completion of Event 4 to start the tabulation, and then the results will change all the time as people don't make the mandatory 5 events. (e.g. Think of someone who attends event 1, misses event 2-4 - technically if they attend 5-8 they qualify for a trophy.)

The formula is already in the spreadsheet I designed last year. The results show all the times and points but those people that didn't qualify weren't on the sheet that calculates trophy standings.

If your really worried about points I can create a Non-points Class that you can pick when you register. Then I won't include your name on the final points tabulation. It'll be as if you weren't there.
