I wouldn't worry about it. A cop would have to be e30 nut to remember seeing your car too many times for it to justify historic tags. In all the traffic of Bethesda I think your clean e30 would blend in.

You shouldn't be harassed if you're "on the way to/coming back from your mechanic's" or "on a performance test/run."

Not especially convincing if it's parked in a commuter garage in Bethesda several days a week.

The truck lives at my parents' place, the race car lives there too (and is a technically a federal offense to drive on the street), and the E30 M3 is a long term restoration project, so it's between this and the E46 M3. ...and I'm losing one of my parking spaces here in Adams Morgan at the end of the month and the M3 does not easily fit into the space where I park the E30. So yeah, I could be driving the E30 a lot until I find another space.

Got it through the MD Safety Inspection. As usual, Eastham's Exxon did a very thorough, but also fair, going over of the car. After fixing what they spotted, I got the certificate yesterday morning. Mind you, the fact that they were looking closely enough to see the evap solenoid wasn't plumbed in is impressive. But, given that the car runs better with it installed, I can't complain.
