Is there a pie run on Dec. 11? Or is this the winter tour? We would like to sign up, per Algie's announcement last week during the Fall Tour.

Pie Run VI
Depart 9:30am
December 11, 2010
This Pie Run will NOT be the enduro run from the summer. We will begin at Catoctin Mountain Orchard in Thurmont, MD and end at The Bavarian Chef in Fredericksburg, Va (NOT the location in Madison , VA). As always all persons are welcome to attend, whether a member or non-member. This is a great way to meet some fun people and find out more about BMW CCA.
Catoctin Mountain Orchard in Thurmont, MD (near Camp David). We have been here so many times do I really need to repeat myself. A few of us have been known to leave CMO w/ 12+ pies. CMO is a mom & pop operation specializing in homemade pies, either baked or frozen. They also have fresh fruits, preserves, jams, jellies, dressings and cider.
Note: I highly recommend ordering your pies ahead of time since we are a large group. The pies can be ordered freshly baked or frozen.; Some people do bring a cooler with them to keep their pies from sliding around in the trunk. Ordering the pies frozen is recommended if you prefer spirited driving, unless you like pie omelette. When you place your order, reference the "BMW group". The pies range in price from $8.95-$10.95. Check their site for the different types of pie.
IMPORTANT: The deadline for calling or emailing in orders for pies is Thursday, December 9th.; After the 9th they will not guarantee they will have the type of pie you may want. Pies I like: Apple Walnut, Strawberry, Cherry Crumb, Peach, Peach Blueberry, Peach Praline, Blueberry, Four Berry.
Next stop, Wilson Farms Meat Co., they have been a family run business for 55 years. They sell every part of the cow, lamb and pig. All meats are cut to order. This is a great opportunity to pick up some great aged meat for Christmas. Maya, the owner, is a joy to deal with and is quick witted. Don’t take her jabs seriously, she is only joking.
Wilson's is a cash only business. No checks are accepted unless you are an established customer. It is highly recommended that you place your order in advance, especially if you want a custom cut. The store front is quite small and they will keep things moving. The meat will be packaged individually wrapped and then boxed tied with butcher’s string. You will definitely need to bring a cooler. We will pass plenty of places to pick up ice. There is also a place about a 1/2 mile away to pick up ice. The cut off date for ordering is December 9. I will send order form via email if you contact me: harlemknights02@gmail.com
Lunch is a pie run favorite, The Bavarian Chef, it has been operated continuously by the Thalwitz family since its opening in 1974. Its cuisine is distinctively German and all the food is prepared onsite using Thalwitz recipes. Its recipes are sought after, but can only be discovered with the senses. When Eckhard and Bruni Thalwitz opened the Bavarian Chef in 1974, it quickly became a local favorite, renowned for its incredible portions of authentic German food and warm hospitality. They now have a location in downtown Fredericksburg.
They give you so much food that you are sure to take home a doggie bag! http://www.thebavarianchef.com
From lunch, you can either head home or take in some of historic Fredericksburg.
This event offers online registration and payment through MotorsportReg.com.

Let's say one is deliriously excited by the prospect of good German food, good driving roads and the company of fellow bimmerphiles. But one is ill-equipped (read, "too lazy") for the MD portion of the drive (too tempting, passing my home and possibly still-warm bed mid-tour). Might one be able to join the group at some point south of the pie-purchasing frenzy? Or join the group at the Bavarian Chef for some good old-fashioned pie-free revelry? Or is it obnoxious to even ask, given how hard Algie worked to plan this event?
A resounding "no" would be acceptable, but a gentle "no" would be kinder :-)
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to bed early Friday night, get up early, and come drive with us!!! (subtle enough? lol)
You would obviously be missing the best part of the Pie Run, its the 'experience' that will be remembered
All kidding aside, people have jumped in/out of these runs at various points in the past for other commitments (although sleep wasn't one of them), but Algie will let you know what to do.

Are children welcome on these tours? We'd like to go, but it would be with a 6 and 10 year old in tow.

Yes they are welcomed to join us as long as they're NOT driving lol. People have brought their kids along in the past, so no problem there.
You'll need to include them on the waiver that everyone must sign before we leave.
Sounds good. So, I'll probably be signing up today. Do I understand correctly that the event starts at the Catoctin Mountain Orchard?

Tomorrow is the last day to call in your orders for meats and pies. Calling ahead makes the lines go a lot quicker when we get there. Don't forget that Wilson Farms only takes CASH, so don't hand them a credit card or check.
