    Over 300,000 mileages....

Hi, I'm new here on this forum...
I had this same car for more than 10 years...
When I first bought this car, only 92K mileages.

My car 1988 BMW 528e has already gone
over 300,000 mileages it's now dying with
only 3 out of 6 cylinders left so
I'm thinking about pros and cons
    whether to go ahead
buy a new engine and then
have someone to install it in my car
    (insurance and tax
are much much cheaper cuz they look at
the year 1988 not the new engine !)

Would you or anyone be able/interested teaching/helping
me how to install the new engine ? I think
it's gonna be fun and interesting !!

Since I'm currently looking for good prices on
either new or used engine, I haven't find one yet.
Please let me know if you happen to sell the
    new or used engine.

I haven't make any decision whether to
buy the new engine or just sell the whole car
which does need paint job and heater/AC is
broken.. Most parts are still good though.

I am proud of myself for making every efforts
to preserve this engine. However, I do feel SAD
about its dying for good anytime soon :-(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

You gotta really love the car....

...to want to keep it going after over 300K miles. If it doesn't have any rust, you may want to do it, but if it's rusting anyplace, then you're looking at a serious chunk of change to keep it going. That said, rebuilding my first engine was great experience, and is a tremendous accomplishment. Just make sure that the car the engine goes back into is worth keeping for the long haul.

I'm getting engine motor replaced this month.
I would keep you posted of the progress only
    if you're interested.

After I get this engine replaced, then I could
focus on body work and paint job as I'm currently
shopping around for good prices with
    good reputation.

Exactly ! Hope that you will keep your M5
as long as you can, it's worth to keep
and know your car very well.

I just got new engine replaced
so I have to wait to see if they did a Good job
(But... they didn't tell me about the Radiator
needs to be replaced until the day I picked up
my car, Sigh... I think they should have
informed me earlier so that way I could get
it replaced before I pick it up so right now
I'm trying to figure this out whether it's worth
to go back to the same shop to get the
Radiator fixed or go somewhere else...

I could not help feel somewhat upset that
they did not inform me about the Radiator
    until very last minute... Sigh..
