I need some help on my 1999 Jeep WJ

I can honestly say that for the first time when dealing with a car I'm completely and totally stuck. I've been fighting my Jeep's exhaust for a week straight: I've used PB blaster, a torch, a sledge hammer, many 4 letter words and all the muscle I have and the damn thing won't come off the car! The reason I'm going through all this is here:

Yep. that's the transfer case. It's gone. Tore in half!

I have a 242 transfer case and rear drive axle to put in (the rear axle needs to be modified by a 4x4 shop first). I'm sourcing out a new front axle as the old one is toast. The reason I need to remove the exhaust is because one of the old TC nuts is frozen and rounded so I need to cut off the stud and start from scratch on it.

So, who wants to turn a wrench with me? I promise minimal cursing by me during your visit.

    What traction control?

I think you need to take advantage of the extra $2B in the "Cash for Clunkers" program ...

This job may actually call for a plasma cutter.

I was going to offer mine to him. I have used the DeWalt "Fire and Rescue" blades on many exhaust systems.

Any time it needs to come off and something is actually being replaced, the Sawzall (reciprocating saw, tecnincally, as sawzall is a Skil brand ) does the job.

Did you mean a real "torch" ? I've never gone back to saws and chisels after getting the "Blue Flame Wrench", I use propane/oxygen, its so easy it should be illegal.

I've been MIA for a bit. The exhaust is still on there and the Jeep still sucks. I'm thinking the exhaust might have to stay and be worked around.

Anyone know a good place to shorten an axle?
