Anybody hear about BMWs in the Park this Sunday in B'more?

I saw flyers for it in a few local mechanic's shops. Emailed the guy but got an error message. Supposedly it's in Clifton Park in baltimore Sunday from 3pm to whenever. The flyer mentioned, vendors, food and diagnostic testing will be available...

Supposedly it's at "B" on this map:

I'm gonna try and head down there and see if anything is happening.

Clifton Park? Keep the windows up and the doors locked. Oh, and watch out for used sharp things on the ground. Have fun!

Well, I'm heading down there anyhow at 2:30. The organizer's email inbox is full, so I haven't gotten confirmation. I've been to Clifton park before... it doesn't have to be that bed.

Anyone that want to hook up beforehand can swing by the house (address in my link to my site)

Well, 6 cars showed up. Myself and another 7 club member, Carl, Tim, the guy who was supposedly putting it o, showed up in his E30 project with a friend of his in a nice E28, and the two guys in E39s a bit later. Tim said their last meet in September had brought out almost 60 cars. I told him to let me know way in advance and I can publicize it in a lot of places...

The location wasn't bad, actually, being on the golf course, and it's not too far from what sems to be a pretty nice part of town. There is an old city public works building in the park that made for a nice photoshoot background:

IIRC, that building is Clifton, the 'country' home of Johns Hopkins (yes, the one the hospital and the University is named after.) He liked the view of downtown from there. Somehow it was transferred to the City as a park and a golf course.

It is much better now than it was 15-20 years ago, when the street urchins used to jump out of the bushes onto the fairway, grab your ball after your tee shot landed, and then sell it back to you. . .

I lived a couple blocks from the park when I was a little kid. It was a nice working class neighborhood - but that was 50 years ago.

If you head towards downtown on Belair Rd. from the park you will see the newly-restored American Brewery building, which is an oustanding German style building. It is now offices.

Honestly, now I think they are the 2 high points of the area. . .

    Have Fun,
    Rick

My dad lived down there until the mid fifties and that entire area looked nice. Wonderfull architecture in the park and the old brewery was totally rebuit. I was fortunate to walk through it during the reconstruction. It would be great to see the park area turn to the better. It's just a little iffy in that area right now. We'll have to see a bit more expansion of the JH complex to the north to get things going, I think.
