OK... fine. I'll pray for wet too.. I'll switch to AM and after the AM session let's hope it gets wet... and cools off a lot too for that matter
I'd rather run in the AM, but all of the people whom I know are from too far East to want to get there in the AM. I signed up for PM so that I don't stand around by myself looking like a complete toolbag.
None of your tactics will work this day Noel.
If you get there early in the AM volunteer to help with set up. It's a good way to get to know the others. If you run in the AM you will then be able to harass your PM friends about their driving.

I just hope my E36 will be ready that Friday with the new Spec3 suspension, exhaust and tires. If not I'll have to bring the bumble bee out from it's newly retired status.
I'm in....and I "third" the call for rain....though no rain is ok too. Time to come run my own car instead of everyone else's..
Still think RE01R's should be in with the street tires group rather than race compound group...they are my daily driver summers after all
by the way, is the list of people signed up so far posted someplace? Looking to see if some other people I know will be there....
Check the rules. The Bridgestone RE-01R is in that category of low treadwear rating tires that the industry calls "extreme performance summer tires". Even though many of us use them for daily driving, we do not consider them fair for our Showroom category. They are legal in our Tuner category. The race compound you mention is only legal in the Modified category.
And don't bother comparing our rules with the SCCA's Solo rules.

Woody,
The non-BMW category's threshold for R-comp vs. Street tire is 210 treadwear. That puts most extreme summer tires into R-comp class.
XS - Non-BMW's w/ 210+ treadwear rating tires.
XR - Non-BMW's w/ no tire restrictions.

Wow. When where did that crazy rule come from?

I'm driving a non-bmw, so there is no showroom/tuner/modified category. Just the "street tires (210+ treadwear)" and the "no tire restrictions" categories. So the RE-01R is actually in with the race compounds for the non-BMW classes. And while the tire is a great tire, it is still a couple seconds slower than a same-sized r-comp in my experience. I just can't afford r-comps and wheels for the new car yet
But it's all academic. I'm aware of the rules and will of course follow them. Just voicing my worthless opinion!
