It starts Friday with registration, sticker application, and drivers' meeting at the Tire Rack in South Bend, Indiana. It is mostly a southeast USA event this year with events in Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida (Sebring and Daytona International), South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. About 68 cars on the latest entry list including 7 or 8 BMWs.

My ususal One Lap partner, Neil Simon, has a mandatory work conference, so this year I am doing it with Robin Sparrow in his 335i. Robin competed last year with Barry Battle who is busy with his first ever Koni Challenge race this weekend at NJMP.

One bit of info I learned yesterday: Eric Brum and Dave Flogas who were supposed to be driving Eric's very modified M Coupe, are now going to rent TC Kline's orange M Z4 "Carbon Coupe". Eric had a cylinder head problem that could not be resolved by Wednesday night.

Well it's Tuesday morning and we're supposed to be at Sebring. Unfortunately, we are at United BMW in Atlanta trying to find out why the car will not even do normal running without going into Limp Home mode. Before today we were in 15th placed overall.

It's Thursday evening and we are pressing on in full-time limp mode. After missing the 2 Sebring time trials and two drag racing events on Tuesday, our position in the standings sank like a rock from 15th to somewhere in the 40s. Driving Daytona yesterday was a real hoot despite only being able to reach 120 mph in limp mode. Some highly modified cars were reaching over 170! Today we did two trials at Carolina Motorsports Park and one at the BMW performance center. We are not the slowest car out there and our position remains in the 40s. Tomorrow it's BeaveRun in western PA.

I meant to mention Steven Schlossman and Mike Barker were spectating this afternoon as well as Scott and Fran Hughes, and Mike Washington. Sorry we didn't have time to stay and chat over a beer.
