Hello all. I have a problem with my cooling system that I have been trying to fix. On the block, between the thermostat housing and oil filter housing I have a pinhole that is causing a leak. I have applied some steel epoxy putty, but have found the leak continues in the area I can't really reach due to the oil filter housing being in the way. I have tried to jam some JB Weld in the remaining area, but fear it was applied in a messy fashion and may continue to leak.
Has anyone removed the oil filter housing on this car and if so, how?? If the leak continues, I will have to remove it to gain access to the area. Shoulda done this from the beginning, but as a novice DIYer, I am reluctant to just start taking parts out of the engine! So, is this complicated? Am I going to need more "specialty tools"? Should I just take it in to a mechanic? As with most of us, I am trying to do the repair on the cheap. Any help, advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
