    E46 Convertible Top 'Batwing' Ripped

    Happy New Year everyone-

I have an E46 M3 convertible, and there's a rip in the plastic and headliner right along the 'pillar' on the passenger side. This was a common failure on E36s, and BMW had a part number for just this piece and a 'vert repair guy could simply cut the old ones out and stitch the new ones in.

According to Lim's in Tysons, BMW doesn't make this piece by itself for the E46, and I may be stuck w/a pretty big bill for a new headliner. Has anyone else experienced this failure? If so, what did you do? If not, does anyone have a parts contact that can get a good answer for this?
