    (2009) Autocross FAQ

    Hello Everyone!

We're currently working on an autocross FAQ section on the main site. We would like your assistance with listing questions that should be part of the FAQ's.

What common questions do you think would be beneficial to list?

    Arrow 2009 ax faq

    1) Are there any constraints about an open car versus rollover bars?
    2) What is the penalty of a pylon? 1 second? two seconds?
    3) What class does a Morgan +8 run?
    4) What class does a Morgan +4 run?
    5) What class does a Morgan 4/4 run?
    6) What class does a Morgan three-wheeler run?
    7) Does a Morgan trike require a riding mechanic for ballast?
    8) Are there any vehicles excluded from AX? "SUVs"? Other "trucks"? Motorcycles?
    9) Is a specific Snell-dated helmet required?
    10) Are there loaner helmets supplied?

    Thanks.

I think I can answer those:
    1) No
    2) Two seconds
    3, 4, 5, 6) X-Class unless on R-compound tires, then X-R*
    7) Of course
    8) Yes, yes, and yes. All three are excluded.
    9) Snell 2000 or newer are required.
    10) Yes
    * Note, classes for 2009 may be altered before this season starts.

I remembered having some practical questions as when do I need to be there. especially if you're running a later heat. What do you do when you get there, like paying and who? And who are the official NCC guys, except for the guy with the mic I guess the tent is obvious to see for these things once you are there, but if you kinda want to get a picture of what goes on before your first event, maybe this could be good to answer..

Unless we're different than SCCA, it's only 1995 or newer right now. Track is 2000 or newer.

Nope, we follow SCCA helmet guidelines. 1995 to current is fine.

a common FAQ; What harm will an AX bring to my vehicle, if any?, my usual answer is that the increase in driving skills will far outweigh the slight extra tire wear.Of course, the following weekly thrashing will destroy the tires but they're hooked by then and don't care. BTW, how about a rule banning stock vehicles in unlimited class? lol

    Most definately.

And about those stock vehicles. I'm protesting to make Bogdan's car a mandatory UNL vehicle. You'll know why when you see what POS he got.

The helmets MUST carry a Snell rating for autocross.

I would contact the manufacturer, or visit their website, to find out if it carries the required rating.

Never having done a club autocross, I can think of a few:

    1. Can I bring a prepared race car that is not street legal?
    2. Related to that: is there ample parking for trailers?
    3. How many runs can I expect to get on an average day?
    4. Are passenger seats required?
