    City of Fairfax - need to fix emission test failure

    I just bought an e36 318i. I sorted out some electrical problems with the tailights (PO didn't solder connections!) and now I need to have a shop sort out why it failed the Emission test. I'm in Fairfax, VA - any recommended shops for tuning/sorting that out?

    Did you check this link for recommendations? Many service facilities also perform emission tests.

    What year is it? And do you have the test results? If it's a '95 or earlier and it was close to passing, try flogging the crap out of it to get the cats really hot before you test it.
