    AT Tranny work - which BMW dealer in VA?

    Guys: My 2000 528iA sport premium is in need of a definitive diagnosis. Two indie tranny shops I have visited are in conflict, one saying the GM unit needs to be replaced, the other saying it's an ECM replacement situation.

    Symptom: The 5th gear (O/D) kicks out from time to time at HW (50 mph or above) speeds. The limp mode has been kicking in; fault code reads as gear ratio error.

    I need a BMW technician for advice; bought he car CPO at Fairfax; between Fairfax, Sterling, and Arlington, which service department would be my best bet for an accuare diagnosis?

    Not Sterling. I would try one of the quality BMW independent repaiir shops that specializes in just BMWs.

    The one I would recommend I dont believe is taking new customers.

    Why not Sterling? The place you would recommend is not taking new customers? Jeeez, it sounds like a pediatrician's office.

    County Transmission in Vienna got good reputation, but doesn't specialize in BMW only.
