    Cool BSW Stage 1 speakers?

Does anyone have any personal experience with the stage 1 BSW plug in speakers system that plugs in to the stock stereo system. I have a 2000 M Roadster and want to purchase new speakers?Any thought's on a stereo system? Stay with BMW or move on to?

    thanks

I have heard a couple of systems. They are good, but I can't say that they are worth the money.

I would call someplace like Crutchfield and see what kind of offerings they have.

One of the positives with BSW, is that they are plug and play where other speakers will need to have light wiring done.

In an E36, they're worth every penny - particularly if you're like me and positively refuse to hack the wiring harness. Note: You positively MUST buy the IQ line version - I tried both and the difference is huge. Can you get better sound for the same price? Sure. But it requires more work, harness hacking, and is much less likely to be reversible.

I'm not fully convinced it's as useful in an E46 which comes with a quasi decent sound system. (And because the E36 is able to use 6x9s on the rear deck, whereas they aren't compatible with the E46 so you get 6.5s instead.)

For plug and play, they are worth it. I bought them for my car. BMW has a nack for picking wierd speaker offset sizes. In my model car, the mid-range speakers can only be found there or through suppliers via panasonic in japan. In any case, the bavauto speakers keep up with my other infiniti speakers.

I haven't heard one that I consider worth it for the money. Call me cheap, but I can get a set of Polks for half (or even less) of the money and put in a whopping 30 mins. on each speaker for the install and have a better sounding system for a lot less money.

On my M roadster, I replaced the head unit, rear speakers and added a sub in the trunk before I could even hear it at 60 mph. It never ceases to amaze me that BMW, being one of the world's best car manufacturers can team up with Harmon-Kardon, one of the world's best audio equipment manufacturers and create what can arguably be called one of the world's absolute WORST car stereo systems!

Long story short, if you need a hand making it sound decent or want to hear one that does sound good for well under $700, send me a PM.
