    High end waxes

How many would pay extra ($20- $100) to have a high end wax applied to their car. By high end I mean waxes such as Swissvax Concorso and Mystery. http://swissvax.com/E/US/Produkte_Lack3.htm

I would rather do it twice a year with a midgrade wax for half the cost than do it once a year with a high grade wax.

    a) It's just a BMW
    b) It's not a garage queen
    c) There's plenty of very effective stuff that's not swissvax or crystal rock.

It looks like high quality stuff, but I've honestly never heard of it... I haven't spent much time on autopia though to see comparisons. I feel like I do keep my car in good condition, but I'm happy using Meguiar's stuff.

If I ever had a nicely restored muscle car or kit car or exotic, I'd consider if it were really that much better than the stuff I typically use.

    ever tried Ziano Brothers

A buddy let me use Ziano Brothers on the Baron. I cannot tell you how many people asked me if the paint is original after a coat of the stuff. It went on and came off really easily. Sunday up at Mid Atlantic Grand Prix, I was asked again if the paint was original. I love that ;o)

Zaino is a pretty popular sealant, especially with the vette guys. Sealants last longer then wax, but give a the paint a completely different look. You either hate it or love it.

Zaino (Polymer) versus Meguires (Carneuba) Waxes

Zaino works great but it doesn't provide adequate paint protection through the winter. The icy weather and salt covered roads over the past few weeks in our area have completely removed the Zaino from my vehicles. When I used Meguire's or another carneuba based product I could drive the roads of western and northern New England for the entire winter and still have some wax left on the vehicle come spring (which usually occured in late May).

Sal (Zanio) may object but, in my opinion (based on what I've experienced in my three years of using his line), his product does not provide paint protection during winter conditions. The salt and other chemicals used by the DOTs today strip off his product leaving the paint open to the elements. The carneuba products appear to be more durable and better withstand the salt and chemicals.

I'll keep using Zaino on the cars that aren't driven during the winter and am planning on going back to Meguires products on the daily driver/work vehicles. Zaino does provide a superior optical quality (as seen in the depth of the paint) versus carneuba but from a durability and paint protection standpoint carneuba waxes appear to be superior.

My two-cents. Feel free to disagree.

Wash and wax vehicle ? Huh! Why it will just get dirty again! Put stuff on tires to make them look purdy so my herding instructor's BC can pee on them to mark my truck. No. A dirty car w/micro fine particles of sheep poop floating around inside is a happy car.

Menzerna FMJ + some carnuba wax works just fine and you don't spent a ton of money
