After a hot December, BMW’s January sales were as cold as the New England Patriots. Mini sales were up 20% though (vs. a soft January 2007).

BMW started 2008 on a very soft note: Sales for BMW Group (BMW plus Mini) were off 22% in January, from 21,811 a year ago to 16,935, but BMW said that was “as expected.” The BMW brand was off 26% while Mini sales rose 20%, from 2,050 to 2,460. Also on the plus side, certified pre-owned sales were up 34%, from 5,464 to 7,313.
