Oct. 21, 2007 Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen is the new Formula One World Champion. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren, who still held the points lead despite his retirement from the race in China two weeks earlier, had another difficult race in the season finale in Brazil, losing his chance of becoming the first-ever rookie to win the F1 drivers’ crown. BMW-Sauber amassed the third best constructor standings, good for second officially owing to the McLaren scandal, while Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica were 5 and 6 in the driver standings.
