Maryland Octoberfest 10/20/07

Yeah, yeah, yeah there is already a ton of stuff going on in the club October 20th, but if the autocross or Summit Point isn't in the plan, there is something to do. A very German ( well Maryland German ) Octoberfest on Saturday 10/20/2007 from 12-8pm at Timonium Fair Grounds.

We don't autocross yet, and Summit Point is out of he question due to football time restaints, so we will be drinking beer (and not driving ) at the Octoberfest. If anyone wants to meet up for a few beirs come on down.

Are people intersted in a German Octoberfest? A Maryland BMW Octoberfest? Trip to the National Octoberfest?

I put this on the calendar last year and had zero interest.
Doesn't mean it doesn't sound like fun though.

Well it does sound like a lot of fun. Especially the wife carry contest.

I was very curious about the 56 views. What were people expecting from a car club stand point when they wanted to view the thread? There was interest in probably a certain direction. What direction was it, and how do we plan an event in that direction? 56 potential people, of which 50% will show to an event. What do they want, and how do we get it to them?

Is it Octoberfest A, or B, or C?

How about a Chapter Octoberfest with a drive, food, vintage, tuned, raced, pristine , daily driver's, and everything else.

Invite other German marques and clubs.

Contests. Concourse, most paint chips (ie mot driven?), etc...

Invite some cool sponsors. Maybe a Radial Tire, a good paint shop, a performance shop, blah, blah

A good location. Similar to the lawn at Pebble Beach. Like the lawn at Fort McHenry. Where our national anthem comes from (well not the lawn, but the area) We have great national history in our chapter, let's use it!

Our ChapterFest was what you are describing.
It was an autocross, concours (car show), swap meet and picnic.
Look at the E90 folks. Organize it and they will come.

I won't make the Oktoberfest tomorrow due to college football watching commitments.

But thanks for posting. And we're interested in any big BMW meet as you described.

I think this Balltimore Oktoberfest was on the chapter's event calender 20-some years ago when it was held at a site near Littly Italy as I recall. As you say, too bad it's the same day as the autocross and drivers school.
