Looking for something more powerful, more efficient, and possibly quieter than your current, sub-$100 shop vac? Consider a higher-end shop vac. Fine Homebuilding magazine (July 2007) rated five that cost $275 to $500, plus an ultra-high-end model at $800. These were tool-triggered, which let you plug in a sander or other device, and when the sander goes on, the shop vac does, too. It adds about $25 over the price of a similar shop vac without the tool trigger.
