The original Mini was 10 feet long. Is BMW headed backed in that direction to meet European emissions regs?

"Supersize me" may not be the order of the day for BMW later this decade. With stricter emissions regulations looming in Europe, BMW is considering building a car smaller even than the Mini. That’s according to a report in the Financial Times. The paper’s site says BMW needs more small, fuel-efficient cars to reduce the corporate average for carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Europe. Thus the consideration given to a car smaller than today’s 146-inch Mini, says the Financial Times. Auto Motor und Sport adds it will be based on the Mini, be built by Magna Steyr, and ship in 2010.
