BMW’s X5, along with the 3 Series and 6 Series, were tops in their segments in the 2007 Power APEAL study, which measures customer delight with the new car. BMW finished second to Porsche overall.

BMW finished second, again, on the annual J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study, in a virtual dead-head with Porsche, which was on top for the third straight year. Porsche received a score of 849 to 847 for BMW on a 1,000-point scale. The 3 Series, 6 Series, and X5 were top-rated in their segments. The 7 Series was second to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the 5 Series was third, behind the E-Class and Lexus GS 350/GS 430/GS 450h.
Of the three major Power surveys, BMW’s best showing comes on APEAL, which stands for automotive performance, execution, and layout, and means how much a car delights the new owner in the first 90 days. The other two are the Initial Quality Study (IQS),
