After finishing fourth in the first four races of the Formula One season, BMW-Sauber dropped a position to finish fifth at the Grand Prix of Monaco. Robert Kubica, who had started eighth on the grid, moved up to fifth late in the race, finishing just ahead of his teammate Nick Heidfeld.
The race was dominated by McLaren-Mercedes. Fernando Alonso started from the pole and finished first, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who has finished on the podium in every race of his rookie season, came in second to make it a McLaren one-two. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa finished third, and Renault’s Giancarlo Fisichella was fourth.
