Mini Cooper earned five stars in European crash tests.
April 20, 2007

Perhaps not surprisingly for a car with one airbag for every two feet of car, Mini Cooper aced the Euro NCAP crash test. It received five stars overall, the maximum.
Specifically, testers gave Mini Cooper 13 of 16 points for “deformation behavior” in a head-on crash. It received 16 of 18 possible points in the side-impact and pillar collision test (the two are treated as a single category). Mini says child safety was rated as above-average.
