It's a race, not a concours: Sebastien Rochon won the Sunday BMW CCA sprint at Sebring in a car that ran far better than it looked. (Brian Morgan photo.)
We shipped a pale-looking Brian Morgan to Florida to pick up some color and look in on racing at Sebring and Daytona. Check back for Brian's reports from the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and supporting races here at and then in Roundel. -- Ed.

SEBRING, Fla. -- In much of the country, January is when BMW track cars and their owners either languish in cold garages or begin to prepare for a season that is still months down the road. But in Florida, the driving season begins in January with a big bang at Sebring, where the PBOC (Porsche BMW Owners Club) and the Sunshine Bimmers Chapter of BMW CCA stage Winterfest.
Since 1994, when it began, PBOC/Sunshine Bimmers’ Pat Spikes explains, Winterfest has grown from a one-day event on Sebring’s short course to a five-day extravaganza on the full circuit. There are a six-hour enduro, a one-hour enduro, four sprint races, and several driving school and solo groups. The races attract a multi-marque field of cars, including everything from Porsches and BMWs to Legends cars and Radical sports racers.
