    changing viewing prefs

know this isn't vBulletin, but is there a way to change how we view these boards? I really dislike having to look at everyone's huge picture in their signature - it just gets in the way. I respect that others like them, so I just want a way so that I don't have to see it.

    Sorry to be so picky.

I didn't know you can block sigs. More useful would be to simply block the graphics. If people want vBulletin, we can go with that. So far phpBB seems to be working.

vBulletin is the software Bimmerforums uses. Under the User Control Panel it gives the option for blocking sigs, avatars and/or images (using the img tags). I don't see any problems with phpBB although being able to upload a graphic to a post (not having to host and link) would be nice.

Yep. on Vbulletin you can block out images, sigs and avatars. Although it will not block images when using actual HTML tags like <img>. It took some time getting used to this since I was so used to Vbulletin from bimmerforums and DTMPower.

I believe phpbb has this option also.

edit: nope maybe not. I thought another php board I frequent had the option, but I just checked and it appears as though they don't.

Maybe we just need a size limit on sigs? Oh, and a "decency" clause to avoid the R rated stuff.

Yeah, a height limit on sigs would be great. I don't really care about total size since I have broadband both at home and at work, but seeing a 3-inch tall image (no offense Jed ) below every sig really breaks up the information density. How about a 100-pixel height limit, including text?
