I'm looking for a new battery for my steed. I have heard that Douglas is what the factory is putting in the cars currently. Any suggestions as to what brand is the best? Any horror stories?

Interstate is what I have been using since the OEM battery died after 3 years. They fit and are available.

I went with an OE battery from BMW of Towson since it was a good price (with the CCA discount) and my original battery lasted over 9 years.
If you want aftermarket, I've heard good things about the Interstate batteries. Just make sure that you get a battery with the appropriate venting tube.

When the battery in my 540 died last year I tried to source a Douglas battery to replace it. What I found was that Douglas was bought out a little while back. I got in touch with the warehouse in Baltimore but they said they didn't have what I was looking for in stock. I ended up with a Duralast from autozone for under $70, much cheaper than the CCA discounted price of $122 at a BMW dealership.
