    Clock Light Out

Does anyone know if the lamp behind the LED clock/date on the dash can be replaced? I have a '98 328ic. I know the clock is still working -- when the sun hits the dash just right I can see that the time is correct -- but the backlight for the clock/date is dead. The rest of the computer lights on the dash are fine.

My non-dealer mechanic who is great told me it wasn't a repairable item. Is he right?

    Thanks.

I know someone with a 318ti had a similar problem.
When he took the clock apart he found a LED.
It could possibly be an open fuse. Fuse 31?
