    Suggestions for Shock/Spring Combo

I am looking for some any advice or suggestions related to an upgrade of wheels, tires and shocks for my '95 525. This car is a street only car that I use for my daily drive and I have become very used to its smooth (stock) ride.
I purchased some 17" MK Motorsports wheels that I plan to fit with some Sumitomo or other reasonably priced tires and put these on in the Spring. As luck would have it, my shocks are showing signs of wear so I'm now thinking about new shocks (and lowering springs while I'm at it). What I'm looking for is suggestions or advice anyone might have for a combination of lowering springs and shocks that will preserve (as much as possible) the factory ride.
So far, I have seen Bavarian Autosport has lowering springs they say will lower the car about 1.4" and sill keep a smooth ride. For shocks I'm mulling over either Bilstein HD/Sport or perhaps Boge. My intent is to upgrade the look of the car, but still keep it smooth enough to drive everyday. I realize that this may necessarily be optimal for performance sake, but I'm not too concerned about that.
Any advice on good shock/spring combinations for a daily driver?
    Thanks in advance.

I am in the process of upgrading a very tires suspension on my wife's 98 328. We live in DC and the roads are shit. A friend suggested a Bilstein BTS kit, which is basically their sport shocks with matched springs. I, and more importantly my wife, have been happy thus far, although I have not replaced rears yet.

Sport springs will give you a harsher ride. Lowering the car normally requires that you stiffen them to prevent bottoming.

If you want to go a bit further you can go to something like the TC Kline coilovers with fairly soft springs. This setup can ride better than a stock M3.
