06/17/2017 - Multiple Border Crossings: No Passport Required Tour

This tour will depart from Point of Rocks Train Station in Point of Rocks, Maryland, with our next stop at Gathland State Park. Astride the ridge known as South Mountain, near Burkittsville at Crampton's Gap, lies Gathland State Park. The home of an unusual man, Gathland was an architecturally unique estate made up of as many as 20 structures, many of them built of rugged stone, individual in purpose and design. A number of buildings still stand, and the remains of others may be seen by visitors to the park. Our next stop is Fort Ritchie, in Cascade, Maryland. This is an abandoned military base. We will end up at Schmankerl Stube Bavarian Restaurant in Hagerstown, Maryland for lunch around noon. This is an excellent German restaurant, that is a favorite on many tours.

We are currently booked solid with 30 cars and 50 participants. For those of you who have registered for the tour via motorsportsreg.com, I will be sending an email with all the particulars for the tour. The quick outline is: Begin to arrive around 7:30 WITH A FULL TANK of gas. There are VERY limited opportunities to fill up while on the tour. We have a couple administrative items to address once you've arrived at the POR Train Station. We'll verify participants (roll call, Bueller, Bueller) and have everyone (drivers/navs) sign our club waiver form. Drivers' meeting (mandatory) to be conducted around 7:45. Expect the email to be sent this evening - I will attach a pdf of the route. If your plans have changed and you need to cancel your registration, please do so so others can join us. Thanks!

If you originally registered as a solo, please feel free to bring a copilot/navigator along with you tomorrow. Definitely not a requirement as the turn-by-turns are easily handled by a single but it is definitely easier and more fun if you bring someone along to share in the fun!
