Ughhhh....Z3 Convertible Top Drama.....replace?

Dealer wants $3,820 to replace the top: the corner zipper seam where the plastic window zipper mates is torn and they say cannot be re-​sewn. Rest of the top is flawless!
1. Anyone run across this? Had a great experience with rescuing the existing top? If so, how did you handle or who did it for you?
2. many replacement tops are advertised for the 2001 Z3, but cannot imagine a $250 top is the right way to go in terms of quality. Thoughts?

I think you're better off getting quotes from some independent shops like BMW Excluservice and Martin's Motorsport. Also, check out the ZSCCA facebook page b/c there's a lot of Z knowledge there

Have you checked with a local automotive upholsterer? Call ExcluService to see if they have a recommendation - 301-231-5400. The dealer would be my last stop!

Thanks....agree: it was shown to dealer a "zip it in" job for free or some shop time. Will follow up on your leads and see where this takes me.....thx again!!!
