Acid rain/ water spot removal

Is anyone aware of a product that can remove water spots from the 'chrome' around windows and along the top edge of the doors? I have tried all kinds of things and nothing has worked. The estimate to replace the chrome was just under $500. It would make my day if there is an easier (cheaper) way!!

This can be a tough job. The trim is anodized aluminum. Meguiar's has a Water Spot Remover - Product number: A3714. Some polish with a bit of abrasive might work - Meguiar's M105 or ScratchX 2.0. You could try Klasse All in One, which is a chemical polish and works as a paint cleaner. Worse case is wet-sanding, followed with buffing/polishing. 3-in-1 oil or WD-40 will make the trim look better, but is temporary.

Is your car under warranty? If so, show your SA the water spots and see if they will replace the trim.

Another option is to wrap the window trim another color. It's a pretty common mod to wrap it black but it's a time-consuming DIY. Lots of info on this online and YouTube

Whoops, I forgot about this for a minute. My mother in law is looking for an X5, which is a completely distracting project for me. Thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to try each and see which works. That will get me through fall/winter when the spots will bother me less. By spring, if nothing works, it's the wrap or replacement. I wish I had a warranty, but no, it's a 2007 335xi. I thought about the wrap idea but I hadn't got far enough in the research to find out how it would change the look of my car (without the chrome accent). I will report back if one of the products cleans the spots up nicely.
