here's a video of a couple of my runs, for context. And keep in mind, my car is one of the slower ones out there
...
it is. I've autocrossed for 15-20 years and gotta say that rallycrossing in a 100hp slow-ass M10 318 is probably more fun than I've ever had autocrossing in any car (and yes, I still love autocross...
in case anyone cares, but some pics from the event. I had two last-second co-drivers and we took 3rd and 4th in RWD Modified. The other e30 there (the blue one with 4 co-drivers) won stock RWD and...
They should get rid of Roundel and knock $10 a year off the membership. If people want a glossy mag, let them buy subscriptions to it. It's a pretty boring magazine anyhow and any info in it can be...
In case anyone wants to come out and watch (or run!), the first rallycross event for the season is this sunday at Summit.
I'll be running the new-project e30 318i (yeah, an M10 baby) in RWD...
my plan for the winter is to finish the e30 rallycross build. I'll probably do a few autocrosses next season, but definitely not a full season. Will be seeing if an M10-powered 318 can hold its own...
I suspect Jon will have more fun riding with in something that will actually move at a reasonable speed, lol.
ah, I thought I remembered something about that. Ok, well then "thanks for next season" haha..
yeah, I"m putting together an early 318 (M10 powah!) for rallycross. Should be super-slow but...
Thanks for a good season Jon. Next year we need an NCC rallycross series. Especially since I now have an e30 rallycross car :)
sorry I bailed. I spent the morning (ironically), not driving my subaru in snow/rain autocross, but warm in my garage trying to track down a wiring short in.....my new old BMW :)
out of curiosity,...
nick, you can always come run summit point with me next year.
I'll be in a BMW, after all.
It might get a bit dirty though....
how do we notify the committee? I plan to attend morning session.
Josh
#44 Subaru WRX
Interesting...I've never heard of that in autocross, though IIRC it's pretty common for Rallycross - but that's because the courses are alot bigger and take longer to walk.
One thing I always...
generally it means you went off-course someplace.
I spied a couple people in the 1st morning session leaving right after running before working as well. Forget what they were driving though...
Driving a WRX in the rain, I lost to a Jeep Cherokee, a Cobalt, and Nick's i30 (again). W T F. Running on shaved/treadbare AD08s was a poor choice, but shouldn't have been that bad. Chalk it up to...
I just had something come up that I have to do in the afternoon - would it be ok if I switch to the AM session for this event? Car #244, Josh.
Yes, I am actually buying a BMW! Not for autocross (will keep the wrx for that), but ironically for rallycross. Or maybe for trackdays. we'll see.
Anyhow, I'm going down to outside Fredricksburg...
dammit...figures my only clean runs were my first one and the one where I had a passenger. ugly...
any word on results. not because I think I did well, but because I want to see just how many cones I took to their deaths....
since it's in less than two weeks, bump it up!
I got a lousy photo of you in a drift turn at the event and posted it on my friend Emily's FB page (since her husband Brandon drifts and also has an e30, and I could tell yours was set up for drift),...
nice job today making the course long enough to be worthwhile. It definitely flowed nicely. The small run groups in the PM and short course-working duty were a plus. Sadly, thanks to the first couple...
ah, just re-checked my email and the CDC event was last weekend it looks like. my bad.
