you could also check the sensor wires, mine came loose at one point and caused the plastic insulation to rub against the rotor which resulted in the brake pad warning.

update, seems to have something to do with my secondary air pump (which sounds like it's on it's last legs). when the SAP is running, i don't get any idle or dash light fluctuations.

anyone?

The dash, interior and head lights flicker on a cold start. the idle also fluctuates slightly. then once the car is driven a little bit, everthing is normal. any ideas, alternator, battery?

I finally figured it out. The airbag is held in by 2 T-30 star bolts, I need to turn the steering wheel and put in a vertical position to see and access the bolts. after the airbag was removed...

Anyone know how to remove the steering wheel from a 99 e46 323i? or how do you remove the airbag from the 4 spoke steering wheel? sorry, i don't have a bentley yet.
