25th Deutsche Marque Concours - May 4, 2008
As many of you know, one of the annual rites of spring for the National Capital Chapter is the Deutsche Marque Concours d’Elegance. This year will be the 25th celebration of fine German automobiles and, as has been our tradition in the past, we will join with our friends from the Potomac Region of the Porsche Club of American (PCA), the Greater Washington Section of the Mercedes Benz Club of America (GWS-MBCA), and the Potomac-Chesapeake Chapter of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA). The concours will be held at Nottoway Park, located at 9601 Courthouse Road in Vienna and is easily reached via Route 66. As we did last year, we will mark the entrance with large car club banners so you cannot miss it. Just in case the weather does not cooperate, a rain date has been set for May 18.
In the Deutsche Marque Concours d’Elegance, vehicles are judged by their condition, appearance and cleanliness.
Judging classes are based on pre-registration. However, there are provisions for seven traditional classes and two additional classes new to the event. The seven traditional classes will have first, second and third place awards.
The Meisters (Masters) Class is a class reserved for past concours winners. The criteria for this class in being finalized but will be something like this, ""If a car has placed first in its class in any NCC sponsored event, it must first compete in the Meisters (Masters) Class, in that event, before it can return and compete in its respective class in that event. A car that earns Best in Show or Best in Marque, is not eligible to compete in any class in that event, the following year." One award for this class.
Another new class is the Anfanger (Beginners) Class. This class is reserved for newcomers to the concours world but do not want to compete with the seasoned veterans. Entrants in class include those who have not participated in a "judged" event before or so long ago, no one remembers. Participation in past "Peoples' Choice" events still allow the car to participate in the Anfanger class. One award for this class.
All entrants must be active members of the BMWCCA.
On-line registration coming soon on the NCC site. Entry fees will be announced on the registration site.
