Over the years that I've been racing, I've gotten to see Paul Newman (the actor) race a number of times. He competes in SCCA Nationals in the NE.
His car number is always the same number as his age. He is currently 79, but should turn 80 soon.

He is an excellent driver. This article, & photos are from his recent incident at Daytona. He escaped a significant car fire unharmed during recent pre-testing for the 24 Hours of Daytona. Here's the story:

Note that the car number is his age.

Back many years ago I was crew chief for a buddy for his GT3 car and later for Sports Renault. Since both of were single at the time we would always do Summit Point SCCA National races. We didn't care how well the car ran we were there for the chicks. We would make sure we were set up next to or close by Newman. The best year was when Tom Cruise decided to race showroom stock.
Good thing we had the Sports Renault that year and all I had to worry about was tire pressures and fluids. The scenery was very distracting. Mr Newman knew us and was always very pleasant. He knew why we were there.
He is a great guy to have a beer with at the end of the day. I admire him for still getting out there. There are some mornings when getting on the trial field is difficult. Racing at Daytona is incredible.
