April 8, 2007</p>Nick Heidfeld brought his BMW-Sauber home fourth overall in the Formula One Grand Prix of Malaysia, holding off a late-race challenge by Felipe Massa of Ferrari. Heidfeld’s teammate Robert Kubica ran a trouble-plagued race, finishing 18th, last among the cars running at the end of the race. It was Heidfeld’s second consecutive fourth place finish.
The race, run in 90-degree weather, belonged to McLaren-Mercedes. World champion Fernando Alonso led from flag to flag, securing his first win with his new team and vindicating his often-criticized decision to switch from the Renault team with which he had won his two championships.
