March 11, 2007 </p>The BMW 320si was the car to have at the World Touring Car Championship (www.fiawtcc.com) season opener in Curitiba, Brazil, March 10-11. BMW dominated qualifying and both of the fifty-kilometer sprints, sweeping the podium in both races. It was the first time in WTCC history that one marque took all of the six podium positions.
Fastest qualifier for the first race was BMW Team Deutschland’s Jörg Müller, edging out his teammate, local hero Augusto Farfus of Brazil, in the final seconds of qualifying. Defending WTCC champion Andy Priaulx of BMW Team UK qualified third, and BMW Team Italy-Spain rookie Felix Porteiro qualified fourth. Müller, Priaulx, and Farfus are BMW’s factory WTCC drivers this season.
