The Sigalsport BMW-Riley ran near the front until it was hit by a competitor late Saturday in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Repaired, it limped back out, limped back in, and retired. (Brian Morgan photos.)

Jan. 28, 2007</p> DAYTONA, FL -- Overnight in the Rolex 24, BMW’s fortunes waned and the complexion of the entire race changed. After a clean six hours, the first yellow flag seemed to begin an epidemic of caution periods, culminating in a red flag just before 1 AM that stopped the race for more than an hour for guardrail repair. Meanwhile, rain had begun to fall.
Through all of this action, the #05 Sigalsport BMW-Riley had run at or near the front of the Daytona Prototype (DP) pack, but at about 12:30 the car was first rear-ended and then T-boned by a competitor. Karl Wendlinger
