BMW Group and PSA Peugeot Citroën will continue researching higher power, lower emissions four-cylinder engines.
BMW Group and PSA Peugeot Citroën have announced plans to continue their joint research into higher-power, lower-emissions four-cylinder engines. On the BMW Group side, the engines would be for future Mini vehicles. BMW Group has used joint development and manufacture of engines for Mini but had to switch relationships when Daimler-Benz wound up in the picture.</p> The first-generation Mini was powered by a four-cylinder engine developed jointly by Rover Group, which BMW bought, and Chrysler and manufactured at the Tritec plant in Curitiba, Brazil. BMW held onto the Tritec stake when it sold Rover.
