I am driving my car (2007 E60 530xi w. 100k miles ) only once or twice a week (<30 mins trips) and only drove less than 1k miles last year. I'd appreciate some tips on how often to change oil and any maintenance in case I do not drive my car for 1-2 months. So far I have been using synthetic and changing oil yearly.

Yearly will work, changing it before you put the car away for the winter. Acids can build up over time in the oil/crankcase, as well as in the cooling system. Are you changing the coolant every 2-3 years?

Thx for the advice. I will check my records for any coolant service.

Coolant flush will need to be done this year. Is there a special coolant for beemers? Or std off-the-shelf coolant will work?

BMW's coolant is affordable, safe for our cars, and discounted for members at local dealerships. You'll need a gallon or 2 to use along with your distilled water. BMW of Sterling has a special extra discount for members on Saturdays - 20% off. See the main page of the NCC website, ~half-way down.

FYI - Beemers = 2 wheels, Bimmers = 4 wheels

Thanks, John. Will definitely stop by the dealership. I forgot the discount. Pardon the confusion on the spelling. I have one foot in each community.
