The annual Tire Rack One Lap of America will be coming to Summit Point on Tuesday, May 3. Spectators are welcome. National Capital members Neil Simon and Brian Hair will be driving Neil's uh, slightly modified 1M. They finished 10th overall in 2015, and are looking to place higher this year. Mike Renner, instructor for the BMW Performance Center, will be driving a new M2 with some Performance Parts additions. Steve Maguire is his co-driver. A half dozen or so other BMW M3s and 335s will also be competing. In addition to the usual assortment of Nissan GT-Rs, Corvette Z06s, Vipers, and Porsche GT3s, the field of 69 cars will include an Ariel Atom, a Porsche 918 hybrid supercar, and a Tesla S P100D.

The One Lap starts with a wet skidpad competition on Saturday evening at the Tire Rack in South Bend, Indiana, and then time trials Sunday at Pittsburgh International Race, Palmer Motorsports park in Massachusetts on Monday, Tuesday at Summit Point, Wednesday at the National Corvette Museum (NCM) track, Road America in Wisconsin Thursday, and Autobahn Country Club Friday. It concludes back in South Bend with a dry skid pad and awards banquet.

The first Summit Point 3-lap time trial is scheduled to start at 8:30 and the big guns go first. So get there early! After an 11:30 lunch break, the second time trial should start at 12:30. Ten minutes after completing their afternoon run, each competitor will have packed his car and headed out to Kentucky.
