    question regarding my 97 M3

    Hello,
Any suggestions on what I should consider doing to my car to make sure it's in good shape and well maintained. My E36 coupe only has 48,000 miles. I purchased it almost 2 years ago from my cousin who garage kept it but rarely drove it. I'm not sure with the lack of driving if anything should be looked at or replaced or simply done b/c of the age of the vehicle.

So, besides the standard oil and filter changes what else would you recommend I do?
I have already replaced the tires and I'm pretty sure front brake pads need to be replaced.

I live in NW DC and work in Bethesda and it's my only car. So, any good shops that are near me or offer rentals would be great too.

    thanks again,

    Adam

I think cars that sit need to be looked over carefully.
I'd pay close attention to all your suspension bushings.

Not really knowing past history I'd recommend everything that goes into an Inspection II so you have a solid starting point.

all fluids should be flushed and anything rubber should be closely inspected. replace water pump/thermostat, possibly radiator.

I can't think of anyplace between DC and Bethesda, but we have a few sponsors in MoCo that are highly recommended: http://nccbmwcca.org/content.php?187

Cost is going to depend on what gets diagnosed, but quite a lot of it can be DIY. Plenty of DIY instructions/videos online and/or buy a Bentley Manual
